Carberry Tower Mansion House and Estate is a place of intimate grandeur, standing proudly within its own 35 acres of private Estate parkland with tree-lined driveways, sweeping lawns and landscaped walkways. Sitting just 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Edinburgh, the hotel is perfectly positioned at the gateway to Scotland’s ‘golf coast’ and is within easy access to all that the Capital city can offer. Whether you want to enjoy a luxurious weekend break, indulgent afternoon tea or simply popping in for delicious food, Carberry Tower is fast becoming one of the places to visit, with an ever-growing reputation for quality and excellence.
A £4 million restoration, which was completed in 2014, has created a spectacular country castle hotel that comes with its own unique history. The estates’ royal connections are long and notable. In 1567 on Carberry Hill (which can be seen from the south lawns) Mary Queen of Scots surrendered to the English confederate lords and The Queen’s Mount still stands on Carberry Hill commemorating the incident. Mary Bowes Lyon, sister of the Queen Mother, lived in Carberry until 1960. Around the time portrayed in the award-winning movie, The King’s Speech, the Royal family were regular visitors, with several of the suites on the principal floor being used by them. The estate proved a popular playground with the then Princess Elizabeth and her sister, Margaret.
