The Tontine has two distinct and characterful eating areas – the contemporary Bistro and the grand Georgian Adam Dining Room. With deference to modern eating habits, food here is versatile alongside a belief that eating should be pleasurable, good quality and as formal or informal as you wish to make it. Wherever possible, menus are inspired by the wealth of fresh, quality produce available locally throughout the Borders. Beef, Lamb, Venison and Fish from the East Coast ports feature strongly, while home-baked sweets, shortbread and scones are a speciality, served daily in the newly refurbished Callants Lounge. Take your time inspecting the well-chosen wine list - on which new and old World are well represented - to find the bottle that will compliment your meal and then to complete a memorable experience, a classic malt, liqueur or cognac from our extensive selection.
The Tontine is a popular place to meet friends and colleagues for a relaxing blether, drink and nibble with delightful ‘sharing platters’ to accompany your Tontine 200 cocktail (or any other cocktail of your choice).
Stay in one of our 36 comfortably appointed en-suite bedrooms. Some rooms enjoy lovely views of the river and Tweed Green or for a special occasion, request one of our feature rooms. All bedrooms are fitted with colour television, wireless Internet, direct-dial telephone, hairdryer, trouser press and a welcoming tea and coffee hospitality tray. Cots and high chairs are available by prior arrangement and there is ample car parking, on site, free to residents.
