Welcome to Blackaddie House Hotel, a superb Hotel set in its own Gardens on the Banks of the River Nith, with extensive views across rolling Scottish Hills The Blackaddie House Hotel is set amidst two acres of secluded gardens, on the outskirts of the village of Sanquhar, amidst the rolling hills of Southwest Scotland, offers comfortable accommodation, excellent facilities and friendly service. This is a family run hotel combining high standards of personal care with friendly informality, thus ensuring that guests feel really at home. With spectacular views over the river Nith, the hotel is perfect for a Family Holiday, the Outdoor Enthusiast, Business Meetings, Business Travellers, Romantic Breaks, Weddings and Family Celebrations. There are nine comfortable bedrooms within the hotel, as well as three Self Catering Lodges within the grounds. Our food is far and above what one would normally expect. Ian, owner and chef, has held a Michelin Star for many years in his previous restaurants so you can imagine that the food here at Blackaddie Country House Hotel is going to be some of the best to be found in Scotland. Even in the short time that Ian & Jane have had the hotel they have already been awarded Gold Plate Status from Food Review Scotland a Silver Award from Eat Scotland - they are now the highest Visit Scotland rated hotel restaurant in the Southwest of Scotland.

Our menu changes daily and we use only fresh products with all dishes being made in our own kitchens. We feature where possible locally sourced Scottish ingredients and only the very best will do.

Perfect for smaller weddings, set in its own gardens on the banks of the River Nith, with extensive views across rolling Scottish hills, the Blackaddie makes the perfect location for your wedding.

The Blackaddie House Hotel is ideal for corporate functions. Conference rooms are available for meetings or seminars. Breakfast meetings can also be provided for.

Smaller parties can be accommodated for in the hotel itself, whilst a marquee on the lawn allows us to cater for larger numbers.


Local Info

Salmon Angling in the River Nith has one of the longest seasons in Scotland, opening on February 25th and closing on November 30th. Sanquhar Golf Club, golfers may take advantage of the local course situated just 300 metres from the hotel. This is a very attractive 9-hole parkland course with good views of the surrounding countryside. Guests are within easy driving distance of Thornhill and Dumfries to the South, and some of Scotland's more famous courses, including Troon and Turnberry, to the North. Walking, there are many opportunities to enjoy peaceful walking amidst beautiful scenery. The Southern Upland Way passes the end of the road and there are also many challenging walks in the surrounding hills. For the less ambitious, there are plenty of shorter walks around Sanquhar. The Southern Upland Way is Britain's first official coast-to-coast footpath, between Canoeing in the River Nith below Sanquhar can be an exhilarating experience. When the river is in spate, it is one of the fastest flowing rivers in Britain. It is an ideal venue for wild water canoeing, with several wild water championships being held on the river each year.
